Description
He is born out of a stone, teaches himself immortality, and then discovers that heaven keeps a register of the dead with his name on it. So he crosses it out. What follows is the most enjoyable rampage in Chinese literature: a monkey who steals the peaches of immortality, drinks the elixir, fights an army of celestial soldiers to a standstill and loses only to the one opponent who does not bother to fight him. Five hundred years under a mountain follow. This is the story of what he does with the sentence, and who comes to lift it.
