Description

Nine years into the siege of Troy, the best fighter alive is sitting in his tent refusing to fight. The insult was petty - a commander took a woman who had been awarded to him - but Achilles has been promised that his name will outlive him, and he has worked out that his commanders are spending his life cheaply. So he stops. The Greeks are driven back to their ships. Men who had nothing to do with the quarrel die for it, and when he finally moves, it is not for the war but for one death, and by then it is far too late to be a rescue.
