Description

A boy on his way to a feast kills a smith's guard dog in self-defence, then offers to serve as the hound himself until a replacement is raised - and takes the name Cu Chulainn, the Hound of Culann. He is the best fighter Ulster will ever have and he knows the terms: a druid tells him that any warrior taking arms on a particular day will be famous forever and dead young. He asks for the arms that day. What follows is a short, loud, magnificently reckless life, and a country that has not stopped singing about him since.
